THE PLOT: Write a summary (6 lines max.)

Charles and his group of friends, all unmarried, have reached an age at which your friends have decided to go marrying. In one of the ceremonies Charles meets Carrie, an American woman. Charles falls in love. But Carrie gets married with other man, and finally Charles, desperate, get married with an old ex-girlfriend. But the day of the wedding of Charles was happened unexpected thing.

What's your favourite scene/moment? Why?
For me the best moment was when, the day of Charles’ wedding, David (Charles’ deaf brother) said to him, in language of signs, that the truth is that he (Charles) doesn’t love Henrietta, the bride.

I like this scene because, despite being deaf, David has the courage to saying the truth to Charles before that he marries with the woman that he doesn’t love.

THE CHARACTERS: Who are the main characters? Name, photo and description.

Hugh Grant is Charles: He’s a thirty age man, very good-looking. He’s a little confused. He falls in love with Carrie.

Andie MacDowell is Carrie: She’s an American woman, very interesting. I think she’s a little liar sometimes. She falls in love with Charles. James Fleet is Tom: Fiona’s brother. He’s unmarried. He’s a very happy man but I think that he’s a little stupid too. His sister and he have a lot of money.

Simon Callow is Gareth: Matthews boyfriend. He’s very funny and he like jokes and parties.
John Hannah is Matthew: He’s homosexual too, he’s Gareth’s boyfriend. He isn’t as fun as his boyfriend, is more serious.

Kristin Scott Thomas is Fiona: Tom’s sister. She’s very ironic woman. She loves Charles in secret. David Bower is David: Charles’ deaf brother. He’s very attractive too. I think he’s as intelligent as his brother. Finally he falls in love with Serena, other girl. Charlotte Coleman is Scarlett: Charles’s friend. She lives with Charles. She’s very extravagant and happy girl.
Rowan Atkinson is Father Gerald: He’s a family friend. He’s learning to be priest.
Anna Chancellor is Henrietta (or Duckface): Is an ex-girlfriend of Charles. They are promised and she loves Charles.

Who's your favourite character?Why?
For me, the best character is David, because if he doesn’t say the truth the day of Charles’s wedding, Charles will be married with Henrietta.

CONCLUSION: PERSONAL OPINION
I think that this film is a good comedy if you want to laugh a little. Personally I like the performance of Hugh Grant. Also he has very understandable English. It’s perfect for improve your English.
I think it's a good comedy. There are very funny and ironic moments. I think the message of the film is that if you never get married, it isn’t the end of the world!

After his success, Billy forgets completely Joe. Until, one night he remembers that was Joe who took him to the success.

Juliet, Peter and Mark
Juliet and Peter are wed in a lovely ceremony orchestrated and videotaped by Mark, Peter's best friend. One day, Juliet goes to Mark’s house for to make a copy of your wedding video. But, in it, only appear Juliet because Mark loves Juliet. After this, Mark decides to show his love for Juliet.

Jamie and Aurélia
Writer Jamie first appears preparing to attend Juliet and Peter's wedding. His girlfriend misses the ceremony allegedly due to illness, but when Jamie unexpectedly returns home before the reception, he discovers her engaging in sexual relations with his brother. Heartbroken, Jamie retires to the solitude of his French cottage to immerse himself in his writing. Here he meets Portuguese women Aurélia. They fall in love at the end.

Harry, Karen and Mia
Harry is the managing director of a design agency. Mia , his new secretary, clearly has designs on him. His nascent mid-life crisis allows him tentatively to welcome her attention, and for Christmas he buys her an expensive necklace, who takes a very long time adding ever more elaborate wrapping while Harry becomes increasingly nervous with the fear of detection. Meanwhile, Harry's wife Karen is busy dealing with their children. Karen discovers the necklace in Harry's coat pocket and assumes it is a gift for her, only to be given the CD. She immediately understands Harry is having an affair. But finally Harry returns with his wife and kids.

David and Natalie

David sees it and he decided to send Natalie to another apartment, but in Christmas day David went to Natalie house and he says that he love she.

Daniel and Carol; Sam and Joanna
Daniel, Karen's friend, is introduced in the film during a funeral for his wife, Joanna. Her death, caused by an unspecified long-term illness, has left Daniel and his stepson Sam to fend for themselves. Daniel must deal with his sudden responsibility, as well as the perceived end of his love life. Sam, too, is especially forlorn about something, eventually revealing that he is in love with an American girl from his school, also named Joanna, who he assumes does not know he exists. After seeing Billy Mack's new video in a store window, he comes up with a plan, based on the premise that "Girls love musicians. Even the really weird ones get girlfriends." With Daniel's encouragement, Sam teaches himself to play the drums, eventually acting as top for Joanna's performance of "All I Want for Christmas Is You".. After the play, Daniel consoles Sam, who is also heartbroken over recent news of Joanna's return to the United States, and convinces him to go catch Joanna at the airport. At the last moment Sam can tell Joanna that he loves her.

Sarah and Karl
Sarah first appears at the wedding of Juliet and Peter, sitting next to her friend Jamie. We learn she works at Harry's graphic design company and has been in love for years with the creative director Karl , a not-so-secret obsession recognized by Harry, who implores her to say something to him since it's Christmas and Karl is aware of her feelings anyway. Unfortunately for all concerned, Sarah has an institutionalized and mentally ill brother who calls her mobile phone incessantly. Sarah feels responsible for her brother and constantly puts her life on hold to support him. Sarah's chance at making love with Karl, following her company's Christmas party, is abandoned when her brother again calls her at the most inopportune time. Karl suggests that she not answer , but she does so anyway, effectively ending their relationship. On Christmas Eve, she wishes Karl "Merry Christmas" as he leaves the office, and it is clear he wants to say something to her, but he departs and she breaks down in tears before picking up her phone to ring her brother. She is seen spending Christmas in her brother's institution, wrapping a scarf around him. They are the only couple not seen at the end of the movie at the airport.

Colin, Tony and the Wisconsin girls
Colin thinks that London won’t find your girl. He explains his problem to his friend Tony, and he’s going to USA to look for his girl.

John and Judy
In a story that was excised completely from the censored version of the DVD release of the film, John and Judy , who up to this point were unknown to each other, work as stand-ins for the sex scenes in a movie. Colin's friend Tony is part of the film crew, and gives them directions as to the activities they should simulate so that lighting checks and such can be completed before the actors are called to the set. Despite their blatantly sexual actions, and frequent nudity, they are very naturally comfortable with each other, discussing politics, traffic, and previous jobs as if they'd known one another for years. The two carefully and cautiously pursue a relationship, and see the play at the local school together with John's brother. In the finale at the airport, Tony, while waiting for Colin, runs into John and Judy, about to depart on a trip together. Judy happily displays an engagement ring on her finger.

Sam: You really want to know?
Daniel: I really want to know.
Sam: Even though you won't be able to do anything to help?
Daniel: Even if that's the case, yeah.
Sam: OK. The truth is actually... I'm in love.
Daniel: Sorry?
Sam: I know I should be thinking about Mum all the time, and I am. But the truth is I'm in love and I was before she died, and there's nothing I can do about it.
Daniel: Aren't you a bit young to be in love?
Sam: No.
Daniel: Oh, OK, right. Well, I'm a little relieved.
Sam: Why?
Daniel: Well, you know - I thought it might be something worse.
Sam: Worse than the total agony of being in love?
Daniel: Oh. No, you're right. Yeah, total agony.
